Have You Seen One Of The BMW Dash Indicator Lights?

It's always annoying if you're driving along, enjoying your journey throughout Colleyville, Southlake, or Coppell, and a warning light appears on your dash. Although it can make your heart skip for a brief moment, not all warning lights are signs that you need to find a service center as soon as possible. Here's a closer look at some of the different types of warning signs you may see on your BMW dashboard.

Lights That Require Service As Soon As Possible

  • Airbag System - A person buckled with an airbag in front of them symbolizes that your belt tensioners and/or airbag system have failed. You need to have your airbag system checked right away.
  • Antilock Brake System - ABS symbolizes the antilock brake system has failed. You'll want to brake earlier than normal as you drive to your service center to get it checked out.
  • Battery - A battery symbol shows that something is wrong with your battery, and you'll need to have it checked.
  • Brake System - An exclamation point in a circle will show up in multiple color options. If it's red, your brake fluid is too low. If it's yellow, your hill assist feature has failed. Both need service appointments scheduled.
  • Brake Pads - A circle with dots on the sides or a car on a lift indicated that your brake pads are worn and need to be replaced.
  • Coolant Level - If you see a tank with fluid on the bottom of it, then your coolant level is too low and needs coolant added immediately.
  • Empty Light - If a gas tank lights up, you have no more than 30-miles until empty, and you need to stop for gas.
  • Engine Overheating - A thermometer on top of two wiggly lines symbolizes that your engine is overheating. Stop to cool it down, DO NOT open your hood, and contact a service center as soon as possible.
  • Engine - If you see an engine light flash, you need to stop immediately as it's a sign that the engine is misfiring.
  • Dynamic Stability Control - A car swerving shows that your traction control system is activated.
  • Vehicle Door Open - A car with a door open lets you know that you need to close a door before driving.
  • And much more!
